Persevering in Virginia

What can I do in Communist Occupied Virginia other than cry and complain like a baby who's big brother smacked him across the face?

Disclaimer: These words are mine and mine alone and are not necessarily representative of any groups or individuals mentioned herein.

The most important thing you can do right now is take a deep breath, realize Virginia has gone through things like this before, and we will endure because we must endure. God is our vindicator.

Okay, now read on...

You need to strengthen and/or establish an in-person group of like minded individuals who you can depend on in times of crisis. I recommend The Old Glory Club
(@OldGloryClub) and the John Birch Society (@The_JBS). There are others. Your duty is to your family first, then your immediate community.

Learn how to defend your person through self-defense classes and the legal use of firearms. No, this isn't to "fight the government." That's retarded. It is to defend yourself from potential altercations with criminals. Once again, all within the bounds of legality.

Take care of your body. Eat as well as you can afford to. Go for walks, get exercise, and go for a hike a few times a month. You will acquaint yourself with the local beauty of your region, and your mental and physical health will be better for it.

Procure print reading materials. You can no longer count on the state to provide your children with anything approximating an unbiased education, and if you can't afford to homeschool, you will have to undo what they are being indoctrinated with. Digital copies can change.

Do things that elevate the soul and spirit. Go to church. Read beautiful poetry and literature. Take up whittling or painting. It will do you a world of good.

NEVER DOOM. You are not a lifeless body incapable of personal agency. There are thousands of things you can do to not only survive this, but thrive in spite of it.

Thank you for the encouragement and for the reminders, most of which we already do. All of our grandchildren and great grands have been or are being home-schooled. Each of their homes are filled with books and more books!
We all need encouragement in these days in which we live...as Charles Spurgeon once opined, "Sit not down in despair...hope thou on, hope thou ever."

Indeed, thanks for this, sir! So much of what needs doing is not necessarily big and splashy; it's pretty basic! Just because you can't control everything doesn't mean you neglect the things you can!

Let's get after it!

Thank you, Sir. I have to admit I was greatly discouraged by the election results here in The Old Dominion. I will try to follow your kind suggestions.
