Darya Dugin:  In Memoriam (Poetry)

Picture

A youthful sunflower,
   Golden, beaming,
Standing with your father
   Proudly musing,
Cut down by coward’s hand
   With hidden bomb,
IED assassin
   Riding along
In your car – explosion,
   Mangled body
Burned past recognition –
   Latest Yankee
Victim, another corpse
Without remorse
Thrown upon the heap –
Millions, for the glory
Of America, slaughtered
On the unholy altar
Of a false belief
In its superiority.
City on a hill?
Rather, a haunt of jackals
And a hive for demons,
Men without reason,
The coagulation of evil on the earth.
When will You free us from its grasp, O our Savior?

Quite descriptive, Mr Garlington: ‘A haunt of jackals.’

"Soldiers, March! We shall not fight again
The Yankees with our guns well aimed and rammed;
All are born Yankees of the race of men
And this, too, now the country of the damned..."

Fitting, consoling words for the victim(s) a despicable act.

It is hideously ironic that Tsar Alexander II gave support to The Tyrant and the genesis of the same wicked empire that would eventually come to plague Russia, a plague including lovely Darya's murder. I imagine this lesson is not lost on the likes of Putin, Medvedev, or Lavrov. To the extent any of us even remember the episode, it would behoove Southerners to bury that hatchet if we are ever to free ourselves and join the sovereign nations.

Your short poem might be a long stride in that direction. Good on ya, Walt.
