Keeping On With the Way We Are Now

Shallow ignorant politicians lacking any integrity always say at once what they think will make them viewed favourably. Linsey Graham and Nikki Haley both came out with resounding endorsement of the Israeli military action on the first day. They are not honest and far-seeing enough to know that they were committing themselves to support what would become ongoing genocide. The attempt by both them to position themselves as leaders in foreign affairs is a joke that they probably still don’t recognise. They are posturing without any thought beyond the moment.

As a citizen of the United States, willingly or not, you are bankrolling and approving a foreign country that is committing obvious genocide. You are vetoing in the United Nations every condemnation and attempt to relieve the genocide, although we were taught that the U.N. is a place for humane representative world opinion.

Terrorists are small groups committing violent acts against occupying powers. There is nothing surprising about a terrorist group fighting back against the occupying power, even with unconventional methods. However, a terrorist act DOES NOT JUSTIFY the occupying power killing the women children in the occupied area.

And all our Americans supporting the genocide are the same people who react indignantly to any other offense around the world that oppresses non-white people. And the same people who have been busily inviting Muslims into the U.S. for half a century. A government that is as deeply into dysfunction as the U.S. today is very close to failure.

There is no need to be sympathetic to Islam, which is a dubious creed whose adherents often fight among themselves and show little fellowship. Yet Islam is the faith of millions and they have quite as much right to be free of foreign occupation as any people.

Joe Biden is a horror as President. The only reason he is President is because Barack Obama chose him as Vice-President. At that time he was without any standing as a national figure. Did Obama pick the worst man he could find?

Obama picked a corrupt, brain-dead ventriloquist dummy - who could sign his name where told - as his third term proxy.

Which brings to mind Thomas Carlyle's passage from his Latter-Day Pamphlets, IV:
"Like owls they say, 'Barabbas will do; ... the Right Honorable Minimus is well enough; he shall be our Maximus, under him it will be handy to catch mice, and Owldom shall continue a flourishing empire.'"

Excellent as always, Dr. W! At a time when America needs Attila the Hun jacked out of his mind on PCP and steroids, all we get are clowns and zombies, none of whom are in control of anything.

“A government that is as deeply into dysfunction as the U.S. today is very close to failure.”
“Dysfunction” seems mild. Some (most) of what happens through and with government “function” to me is almost like Alice in Wonderland. I sometimes think it is all just a strange bad dream.
I really sometimes wonder this very thing. Even the least Bible student can just casually thumb through the Proverbs and wonder about some of the screwballs running around collecting a paycheck from the government.
The government at almost all levels is just NUTS!!

Thanks Mr. Yarbrough for highlighting and adding to Dr. Wilson's profound statement. That very same sentence stood out like a beacon.

To my favorite historian, Dr. Wilson, you and i would have fought on opposing sides in what us Americans merely call the English Civil War. At times I think you have thrown out the baby with the bathwater when it comes to original Puritanism. I just recently purchased your "The Yankee Problem." I am now getting a better grasp of your aversion to Puritanism and Calvinism. You and I would have fought on the same side during the American War Between the States. Henry Ward Beecher won't no Wade Hampton III. I see our Wade Hampton as our own Richard the Lionheart. But even better. Jefferson was right. The Yankee started at the very beginning to make us slaves. The cover to your book is so appropriate. They are the 'poster child' for Yankee scum. I know you recently wrote an article saying you are 'nothing' as a historian. You are almost everything to me as a historian, and we would have fought against each other in the English Civil War. But, you are irreplaceable. You are our hero in this god awful American time period. You are a true Southern hero. Keep writing! Keep publishing! Enjoy your family! Enjoy time with Bernie! How I long for you to give my family a tour of the Calhoun Mansion. But, alas, it will never be so. I'm also reading your new books on Jefferson and Calhoun. You write history as like Zeus sending thunderbolts from the heavens! Where are all the Southern men, American men, to defend us from this Yankee genocide???
