One of the big generals recently affirmed that “Robert E. Lee was a traitor.” I forget which one, but one of the top generals that Trump stupidly appointed who then jumped on him with both feet. Where did he learn that business about “treason”? At West Point? I hope not. But any body who has such a simple-minded view of great issues of history and of human affairs is very certainly not qualified to command an army. What if Churchill or Eisenhower and their lieutenants had been that ignorant? We would all be goose-stepping, which is probably what this general would prefer anyway.
